A short entrance note / 05

The street is a room too

A kiosk, a bicycle and a net bag. The small infrastructures of an ordinary day.

Public furniture.

A kiosk is a room with a counter. It can sell a newspaper, a ticket or a snack, but it also gives a street a place to stop. Public space includes the small, repeated equipment that lets a day happen.

The length of a journey.

A bicycle can make a journey affordable; a car can make it faster. Neither automatically leaves more evening at the end. The politics of mobility is also a politics of time: who can move, how far, at what cost and with what safety.

What you carry home.

A net bag is empty until it has weight. Its shape appears with use. The objects of an ordinary day are not decorative; they are the small equipment through which time, food and care travel between places.
