Before the meeting, someone cooks

The labour that keeps solidarity alive.

Original interpretive vector study. Not a reproduction of the museum object.

Begin with a meal

The breakfast article is a small document with a large claim: children’s needs should be met collectively when household resources are inadequate. Its politics lives in the work of obtaining, preparing and sharing food. It is also an invitation to notice who does that work and whose contribution enters the public record.

Tools cannot do the whole politics

A compact kitchen can reduce movement; a laundry can provide shared equipment. Yet time saved does not automatically become freedom, and a collective service can still rely on unequal labour. Read the design beside the social arrangement that uses it.

Care becomes testimony

In arpilleras, the skills associated with domestic work became a public language of hardship and resistance. Their makers cannot be reduced to one ideology. They belong here because an egalitarian culture must hear the people whose survival and losses official images leave outside the frame.
