Circulation & unequal effort
Portability is a relation between an object, a body and a route. The convenience seen from one end may be labour at the other.
An expandable bag looks almost weightless when empty. Filled, it transfers weight to a hand or shoulder. Noken and Dederon invite a material comparison, but not a story in which all nets mean the same thing. Different fibres, ways of making and relations to land organise different kinds of work. The silhouette cannot supply a maker’s biography.
A painted rickshaw makes a related difficulty visible. Its surface can travel into exhibitions as an image while the vehicle’s bodily effort disappears. Asking about the driver, painter and repairer restores several workplaces to the picture. It does not license us to invent their incomes or opinions from an attractive panel.
Money also circulates, with conditions. The loan, the cooperative share and the ration entitlement distribute risk differently. Read their documents by asking what must be returned, who bears a loss and whether the terms can be challenged. Neither movement nor access is automatically freedom; the route and its rules matter.
